Former Coronation Street actress Mo Moreland has died at the age of 87 after a long battle with Alzhiemer’s disease. She also toured the world as a member of the star troupe Roly Polys.

Mo died in a nursing home in North Shore on Friday as her long-time friend and Les Dawson’s ex-wife Tracy Dawson paid tribute to the star. She told The Gazette: “We are devastated. Mo lived with my daughter Charlotte and I and helped me bring Charlotte up.

“She was a great comfort when I lost Les and I will really miss her.” Reality television personality Charlotte also took to Instagram to share a sweet tribute with her 1.4 million followers.

Alongside a series of pictures of the pair, she wrote: “I’ve been putting off posting this as didn’t really want it to be real… I’ve been dreading the day my whole life.. but it was always going to come.

“My mo, my beautiful mo has sadly passed away but very peacefully on Friday. for those who don’t know mo she has been suffering wirth Alzheimer’s for the last 10 years in a home.

“She is now finally at peace and back with my dad & her Roy. What an icon, what a woman, what a talent.

“You were a massive part of my life & I’m so happy I have so many incredible memories!!,” Charlotte expressed.

Mo’s real name is Maureen McCluskey and she was a skilled tap dancer as well as her many other talents.

She featured in two episodes of the ITV soap back in April 1976 as a Fat Lady.
